There are two general RISE Project Scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000.00
There is one $1,000 Distance Learning scholarships for students pursuing bachelorʻs degrees through the University of Hawai'i - Hawaiʻi Community College - Pālamanui.
● Proof of enrollment or course enrollment in any academic or professional program.
● Two page personal statement to include: A general description of life circumstances that explain why higher education was not completed directly out of high school; why you have decided to pursue a degree at this time in your life; professional goals and aspirations.
● At least one letter of recommendation from someone who can speak to your ability, aptitude and/or character (not including family or friends).
● Demonstration of Financial Need
If you have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), please submit a copy of your Student Aid Report. A statement explaining your financial situation will also be accepted if a FAFSA is not available.
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships for women to be used exclusively for tuition costs to assist reentry students ideally between the ages of 25-50 pursuing their first Baccalaureate degree through Online/Hybrid delivery through the University Center West Hawai’i. This scholarship is not intended for students who are seeking a graduate degree or an additional baccalaureate degree. Funds shall not be used for books, lab fees, child care services, or transportation costs.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Recipients must be a female enrolled full-time or part-time (6 credits or more) as an undergraduate student pursuing an online/hybrid baccalaureate degree in any area of study through the University Center West Hawai’i.
CRITERIA:
• Students should be 25 years of age or older.
• West Hawai’i resident
• Have experienced a cumulative gap in education for three-five years or more, resuming studies to complete first undergraduate baccalaureate degree
• Works a full-time job
• Enrolled full-time or part-time (6 – 12+ credits) in an online/hybrid baccalaureate degree program at the University Center West Hawai’i
• Has financial need
All applications must be submitted online by APRIL 15, 2023.
